Friends of the Orleans County Animal Shelter, Inc. is organized as a domestic not-for-profit New York State Corporation and is dependent on donations to support its activities. We are a volunteer driven, 501(c)(3) registered non- profit organization dedicated primarily, but not limited to, the placement and care of animals housed at the Orleans County Animal Shelter.
We are dedicated to the welfare of pets from the Orleans County Animal Shelter. Our mission and purpose is:
• To promote animal welfare through assistance in the operation of a public animal shelter.
• To assist in providing temporary care and housing for the lost, unwanted, abused, stray and abandoned animals.
• To assist in the return of lost animals to their homes.
• To seek suitable homes for homeless animals.
• To provide emergency care for animals when possible.
• To promote spaying and neutering as a means of animal population control.
• To educate the public about owner responsibility and humane treatment of animals.
• To apply for grants to aid in the care of the animals at the animal shelter.
• To assist and promote various fundraising activities to carry out the mission of the Shelter.
